Report Card Webinar

Thank you to everyone who joined the webinar led by Vinnie Bradford and Molly Hill. Even though the discussion wasn’t recorded, we had a great exchange of ideas with coaches, referees, and community leaders. Watch back the presentation below and get involved today!

Good Grades

In the summer of 2019, Vinnie Bradford held a USFCA seminar on “Developing and Promoting Women Fencing Coaches.” Part of her presentation was a preliminary “report card” for coaching in USA Fencing based on two grading systems from the Tucker Center for Research on Girls and Women in Sport, and The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sports (TIDES). Discussions at the seminar led to a networking and collaboration that eventually grew into the formal organization of WFencing. Another project developed from this seminar – a thorough report card on the status of gender representation among all fencing professionals – coaches, referees, bout committee, and more. While astounding improvements have been made over the last 50 years, there is more work to do, and specific data helps us measure our progress in the journey towards equity.

After almost a full year of work, we present the inaugural WFencing Report Card for the 2019-2020 season. Read below and then check out our summary webinar hosted by the authors.
